Alvar aalto hocker ikea
So I have run into a few of these stools over time and have always wondered Do I have an original? I purchased one several months ago which I thought might be original due to its severe wear and apparent age.

The wood was chipped, worn, and the bottom of the legs showed serious age. I believe the previous owner used it as a plant stand The stool was stained walnut brown, and lacked any markings on the bottom. The legs were held on by 2 Hexagonal screws and there was a perfect hole drilled in the center of the bottom of the stool which went about half way through Why I dont know its a mystery.
My guess is it is older than the Ikea Fostas because who would buy a stool strip it, re sand it, then stain it darker, just to use it as a plant stand? This has been gone over so many times.

Did you not do a search? It's all there in the joinery at the curve of the leg. Post photos There are lots of derivations of the Aalto stool out there. The true Aalto designs are easy to discern. Alvar Aalto stool or Ikea Fosta i just looked back and read up alot but honestly can someone just make a list I have hexagonal screws which go into inlayed flush metal screw eyelets.
I cant find pictures of the bottoms of the old Alvars or the Fostas arggg sorry i know this has been covered but there was no clear ways to tell other than the ply in the legs and honestly most of the people just rambled or said fake not fake. Are you for real? For the What part of that is difficult for you or preventing you from doing a little further research? Another DA member will have to come over and wipe your arse, as I expect that will be your next request.

I have to also say that the search function on the board isn't the best. I can see why people revisit questions sometimes. I would rather be guilty of lazy research than guilty of being a rude bitch. For instance, I just searched Aalto and got "refine search more than 20 finds. Then "Aalto fake" and got nothing. Then "Aalto authentic" and got nothing.
I would just rather ask, too.

Legs Are the easiest way to tell, as you stated. The top is also solid. I'm not aware of any Aalto examples with hexagonal screws. Or is this not Or is this not good enough for the OP - too much rambling on perhaps? Terrible service you get when you want people's hard earned expertise for free. Wayward should complain to the administrators.
